Meaning “Star of the Forest”, Vantara is a visionary wildlife conservation initiative founded by Anant Ambani and backed with tremendous support from Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation. Located within the vast Jamnagar Refinery Complex spread over 3000 acres, Vantara serves as a sanctuary for animals facing abuse, injury, or extinction.

In a daring rescue, Anant Ambani's Vantara mobilized a convoy of six vehicles, including an ambulance, feed vehicle, and a dedicated team of 22 staff members, to free the elephant statue and her baby from Tripura. This remarkable effort reflects Vantara's unwavering commitment towards animal welfare, as their dedicated medical team made the remarkable 3500-kilometer journey from Jamnagar to Tripura in just 24 hours to provide the much-needed care to Pratima.

Before her transfer, she underwent extensive treatment by Vantara's specialists, ensuring her well-being every step of the way. A veterinarian from the Trust examined her in Tripura and found numerous wounds and bruises on the statue, as well as severe stiffness in the limbs and blindness in one eye. Pratima had become thin while her calf was also suffering from a lack of nutrition.

Despite the treatment being provided by local veterinarians, including systemic antibiotics, painkillers, vitamin supplements, and regular dressings, Dr. Ghatare highlights a shocking truth: Pratima and Maniklal's survival is in danger. Immediate intensive care and adequate nutrition were not just optional enhancements, but they needed vital lifelines for their survival.

Supported by compelling evidence including before and after images, videos, veterinary records, and government support, the success story of Pratima and her calf underlines Vanatara's commitment to excellence in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. Additionally, Vanatara's robust infrastructure is ready to accommodate 500 elephants and provide them with constant care, ensuring that any animal in need will be provided with assistance.

According to a release from PETA, the statue and its calf were being kept illegally without an ownership certificate, in violation of wildlife protection laws. A veterinary examination revealed alarming signs of neglect, including emaciation, abscesses, and injuries, highlighting the urgent need for intervention.

Under the expert care of Vantara's dedicated team led by two veterinarians, including Dr. Jahan from Gauhati, Pratima, and her calf are now on the road to recovery.
